Advisory Board

Tim Mack, J.D.

Tim Mack, J.D. is President of the World Future Society.

The World Future Society is an association of people interested in how social and technological developments are shaping the future. It endeavors to help individuals, organizations, and communities see, understand, and respond appropriately and effectively to change. Through media, meetings, and dialogue among its members, it raises awareness of change and encourages development of creative solutions. The Society takes no official position on what the future will or should be like. Instead it acts as a neutral forum for exploring possible, probable, and preferable futures.

Founded in 1966 as a nonprofit educational and scientific organization in Washington, D.C., the Society has members in more than eighty countries around the world. Individuals and groups from all nations are eligible to join the Society and participate in its programs and activities.

In June of 2004, Tim assumed the Presidency of the World Future Society, which is the largest membership organization in the futures field. He has been a member of the New York and District of Columbia bars since the 1970s and has served as General Counsel for a number of for profit and non-profit organizations. After holding research positions at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and at the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, Tim joined the Budget Policy Task Force at the U.S. General Accounting Office, which serves as the analytical arm of the US Congress. He subsequently spent five years as a Vice President at WPP Ltd. (one of the largest management consulting and market communications companies in the world) and served on the Board of the MIT Enterprise Forum, a non-profit group assisting innovative companies. He’s also assisted the Institute for Global Chinese Affairs (ranked Number One globally by the Foreign Experts Bureau in Beijing).

Tim earned his BA in Philosophy and Literature at the University of Washington in 1968 and earned his J.D. at Syracuse University College of Law in 1976.
