We interviewed four longevity experts (including several Lifeboat Foundation board members) to learn how they think about their diets. I was particularly struck by how different they all were (except almost all of them fasted)!

In all our research into longevity so far, from quantifying how we sleep to exploring the science behind whether human life extension is possible, nutrition has remained the most controversial and confusing subject that we’ve covered. For example, when we surveyed 101 of our readers on their longevity diet, we got 101 very different answers. There is little consensus on what the perfect life extension diet should look like.

I know some epidemiological studies have promoted moderate alcohol intake as better for longevity than not drinking at all, but I thought that sounded kinda suspicious, so I dug into all the research to see for myself.

Turns out, there’s actually some in vivo studies showing life extension effects of low amounts of alcohol on animals.

What’s the effect of moderate alcohol on life expectancy? The science is confusing so we did a deep dive to find if a little booze is healthy.

I could find hardly any scientific studies that showed negative results from the Mediterranean Diet for longevity, which honestly makes me a little wary of scientific establishment groupthink.

That said, I think I am going to start taking shots of olive oil after all my research…

I love bacon.

On a beach trip with some college friends a few years ago, I was put in charge of breakfast. I made sure to buy eight pounds of bacon (one for every person on the trip) for our three days at the beach house.

I’m curious what biomarkers people here currently track? I did some research and came up with these 20 but any you would add/take away? (9 of them were mostly included to be able to use Morgan Levine’s biological age calculator).
