Interesting discovery! I’d love to see it in action.

A new ferroelectric polymer that efficiently converts electrical energy into mechanical strain has been developed by Penn State researchers. This material, showing potential for use in medical devices and robotics, overcomes traditional piezoelectric limitations. Researchers improved performance by creating a polymer nanocomposite, significantly reducing the necessary driving field strength, expanding potential applications.

A new type of ferroelectric polymer that is exceptionally good at converting electrical energy into mechanical strain holds promise as a high-performance motion controller or “actuator” with great potential for applications in medical devices, advanced robotics, and precision positioning systems, according to a team of international researchers led by Penn State.

Mechanical strain, how a material changes shape when force is applied, is an important property for an actuator, which is any material that will change or deform when an external force such as electrical energy is applied. Traditionally, these actuator materials were rigid, but soft actuators such as ferrroelectric polymers display higher flexibility and environmental adaptability.

Electromagnetic and Informational Weapons: The Remote Manipulation of the Human Brain https://russian.lifeboat.com/blog/2023/07/electromagnetic-and-informational-weapons-the-remote-manipulation-of-the-human-brain https://russian.lifeboat.com/blog/2023/07/electromagnetic-and-informational-weapons-the-remote-manipulation-of-the-human-brain#respond Sat, 08 Jul 2023 01:22:23 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2023/07/electromagnetic-and-informational-weapons-the-remote-manipulation-of-the-human-brain

An older research article and I really hope I didn’t already post this, but isn’t this scary? Nevermind AI or nano, but the fact you don’t need that to mess with your mind? Oh and I’ve searched google and there’s nanoparticles in meds, including psych meds. EMF could potentially mess with that or the minerals in your body but I’m not an expert. But we do have iron in our blood. I read that EMF can affect the blood brain barrier as well. I know there’s issues with people saying they’re targeted individuals, but with instructions online on how to make a microwave gun, especially on youtube, and there’s a Wired Magazine article about a court case where a judge ordered a man to stop EMF targeting a former business partner over an argument over a business deal. Yup, the 21st centure is bringing more than guns and knives and fists into the foray.

From our archives. This important article first published by GR in August 2004 brings to the forefront the role of Psychotronic weapons as an instrument of modern warfare.

AI has applications for archeology too! That’s actually a career I considered before computers. I wish I’d gone with that. Long story but computers were kind of a disaster for me.

Nearly a million texts of Akkadian were untranslated before an A.I. was developed that can do it in seconds.

Masahiko Inami and his team at the University of Tokyo have developed a wearable multi-armed device called “Jizai Arms”, to study social interaction among users of robotic limbs. Controlled remotely, the device has sockets for up to six articulated arms that can be removed and attached. The project seeks to explore how technology can function as an extension of the human body.

New journal, podcast take a closer look at artificial intelligence in medicine https://russian.lifeboat.com/blog/2023/06/new-journal-podcast-take-a-closer-look-at-artificial-intelligence-in-medicine https://russian.lifeboat.com/blog/2023/06/new-journal-podcast-take-a-closer-look-at-artificial-intelligence-in-medicine#respond Fri, 30 Jun 2023 12:22:21 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2023/06/new-journal-podcast-take-a-closer-look-at-artificial-intelligence-in-medicine

ChatGPT isn’t the only tool available though. Google is working with medicine and so is IBM and I believe, Microsoft though they use ChatGPT. So far, I’m liking the responses more from Bard on many questions so I am hoping Google keeps up the good work. But whoever stays ahead in AI, I hope it helps humanity. BTW, ask Bard and Bing AI how it they will help humanity. They have different but somewhat similar answers now. At first Bing was on the fence on if it would help humanity when the Singularity arrived but Bard was firm in saying it would help us. So yes, I have more faith in Bard than ChatGPT. I am a little biased though. I’m a Pixel Super Fan and own a Pixel 6 and have owned several Google products/services. Anyway, what are your thoughts in AI and medicine? I think we should be cautious because it can be manipulated by hackers more easily, like chat bots were, but at the same time there’s great potential to benefit humanity.

Andrew Beam, deputy editor of a new journal on AI and co-host of a podcast on the topic, discusses both the potential and challenges of the powerful tool.

A.I. is not all hype. It’s the ‘fourth industrial revolution playing out,’ says Wedbush’s Dan Ives https://russian.lifeboat.com/blog/2023/06/a-i-is-not-all-hype-its-the-fourth-industrial-revolution-playing-out-says-wedbushs-dan-ives https://russian.lifeboat.com/blog/2023/06/a-i-is-not-all-hype-its-the-fourth-industrial-revolution-playing-out-says-wedbushs-dan-ives#respond Wed, 28 Jun 2023 14:22:28 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2023/06/a-i-is-not-all-hype-its-the-fourth-industrial-revolution-playing-out-says-wedbushs-dan-ives

And so it begins. I’ve seen one job already on glass door that requires knowledge of AI and I only barely started looking. I wasn’t even specifically looking for AI jobs. I’ve seen other articles where ChatGPT can be used to make thousands in side hustles. So far, so good. I’ll have to check out those job hustles and see if I can make use of those articles. Just one job is enough for me. One article claimed some jobs will pay you as much as 800k if you know AI.

Generative artificial intelligence is all the rage now but the AI boom is not just all hype, said Dan Ives from Wedbush Securities, who calls it the “fourth industrial revolution playing out.”

“This is something I call a 1995 moment, parallel with the internet. I do not believe that this is a hype cycle,” the managing director and senior equity research analyst told CNBC’s “Squawk Box Asia” on Wednesday.

The fourth industrial revolution refers to how technological advancements like artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles and the internet of things are changing the way humans live, work and relate to one another.

Astronomers solve the 60-year mystery of quasars, the most powerful objects in the universe https://russian.lifeboat.com/blog/2023/04/astronomers-solve-the-60-year-mystery-of-quasars-the-most-powerful-objects-in-the-universe https://russian.lifeboat.com/blog/2023/04/astronomers-solve-the-60-year-mystery-of-quasars-the-most-powerful-objects-in-the-universe#respond Fri, 28 Apr 2023 03:22:31 +0000 https://lifeboat.com/blog/2023/04/astronomers-solve-the-60-year-mystery-of-quasars-the-most-powerful-objects-in-the-universe

Wow. Spoiler, quasars are galaxies colliding and part of the gases reacting with black holes in the middle of the galaxies. Does that mean we’re all doomed though we could galaxy hop in the distant future I suppose. And the rest of the dispersed gases will take millions or was it billions of years to make new stars again. Kinda reminds me of human life. We are born only to return to the Earth.

Scientists have unlocked one of the biggest mysteries of quasars—the brightest, most powerful objects in the universe—by discovering that they are ignited by galaxies colliding.

First discovered 60 years ago, quasars can shine as brightly as a trillion stars packed into a volume the size of our solar system. In the decades since they were first observed, what could trigger such powerful activity has remained a mystery. New work led by scientists at the Universities of Sheffield and Hertfordshire has now revealed that it is a consequence of galaxies crashing together.

The work is published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
