Dr. Sandra Kaufmann

Sandra Kaufmann, M.D. is the Chief of Pediatric Anesthesia at Joe Dimaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. She is the author of The Kaufmann Protocol: Why We Age and How to Stop It. This Protocol about how to fight aging deals with The Seven Tenets of Aging through the Kaufman Rating System and by choosing the appropriate protocol.

Sandra began her academic career by earning her Bachelor’s Degree of Science from the University of Miami in 1990 followed by a Master’s Degree from the University of Connecticut in Tropical Ecology and Evolutionary Biology,

She earned her Medical Degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1996, and completed a residency and fellowship at Johns Hopkins in the field of pediatric anesthesiology in 2002. She is board-certified in both Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology from the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Since 2002, she has been at the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, a nationally recognized center of excellence, and since 2014, she has been the Chief of Pediatric Anesthesia. She was recognized as “Best in Medicine” by the American Health Council.

Sandra is an outdoor person, a rock climber, mountain climber, swimmer, regularly participates in mini-triathlons, and is overall extremely active. Her avid interest in the science of anti-aging began many years ago when she hit 45, as an intense hobby, when she decided she didn’t want to succumb to the mercy of time and began exploring ways to fight back against what has always been the inevitable decline of aging.

Utilizing her knowledge in cell biology, human pharmacology, and physiology, this hobby has now become her main focus. This project represents years of non-clinical research leading to the first ever scientific and comprehensive system to explain why we age and what can we can possibly do decelerate this process.

After poring through thousands of studies about hundreds of substances, she narrowed the list down to about thirty based on how they positively affected each of the seven tenets of aging. This information is communicated by her unique rating system, whereby an individual can now know how each molecular agent contributes to their anti-aging regimen.

Among the vast list, the molecular agent standouts include red wine’s resveratrol and pterostilbene, the super-antioxidant astaxanthin, the dipeptide carnosine, turmeric’s active ingredient curcumin, EGCG, and the diabetes wonder drug metformin.

A lot of these things have been around for thousands of years and have proven their worth over time and in studies,” says Sandra. “I’m not a holistic, crazy, kumbaya healer. It’s all science.”

The results are detailed in her book, The Kaufmann Protocol: Why We Age and How to Stop It. In it, she describes the mechanisms of aging on a cellular level and the best substances to retard its progress.
