Shaikat Hossain, MSc

Shaikat Hossain, MSc is doctoral student in the Cognition and Neuroscience program under Dr. Peter Assmann at The University of Texas at Dallas.
 
His research interests lie in the field of auditory neuroscience, psychoacoustics, and digital signal processing. He is currently the TA for the undergraduate course Historical Perspectives: Minds and Machines.
 
Shaikat authored The Internet as a Tool for Studying the Collective Unconscious and Cochlear Implants and the Deaf Culture: A Transhumanist Perspective and coauthored Spontaneously developed tail swellings (SDTS) influence the accuracy of the hypo-osmotic swelling test (HOS-test) in determining membrane integrity and viability of human spermatozoa, Musical Instrument Recognition in Combined Electric and Acoustic Cochlear Implant Simulations, Human Sperm Bioassay, and Music Masking Speech In Cochlear Implant Simulations.
 
In addition to his scientific work, he is also involved in electronic music. He has knowledge in a wide range of different music production and engineering applications. It is his hope to one day be able to tie his research interests into his musical endeavors, as electronic music has a rich history of experimental ingenuity. Shaikat earned his Bachelors of Arts in Psychology at the University of Illinois in Chicago in 2009 and his Masters of Science in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience at the University of Texas at Dallas in 2010.
