Dr. Antonietta M. Gatti

Antonietta M. Gatti, Ph.D. is Doctor in Experimental Physics at the University of Bologna, Italy. She is on the Editorial Board of Journal of Biomaterials Applications and is Member of the CPCM of the Italian Ministry of Defense.

Her research interests include:

  1. Biomaterials and tissue interface: developing in vivo methods using small and big animals to study biomaterial-induced for dental implants with reduced bacterial adhesivity.
  2. Biomaterial-induced calcification: calcium-phosphate, bioglasses.
  3. Tissue engineering: study of de-cellularization of biological matrix and re-implantation of the cells of the end user.
  4. Pathologies developed by micro- and nano-particles in patients.
Antonietta coauthored Nanopathology: The Health Impact of Nanoparticles, Innate defence functions of macrophages can be biased by nano-sized ceramic and metallic particles, Biological tolerance of different materials in bulk and nanoparticulate form in a rat model: sarcoma development by nanoparticles, Nanopathology and Nanosafety, Effects of nano-scaled particles on endothelial cell function in vitro: Studies on viability, proliferation and inflammation, Biocompatibility of micro- and nanoparticles. Part I: in liver and kidney, and Nanopatologie: cause ambientali e possibilitá di indagine.

Antonietta earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Technologies (Bioengineering) at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bologna, Italy.
