Bobby Farlice-Rubio
Bobby Farlice-Rubio is a member of the Vermont House of Representatives, representing the Caledonia-1 District. He is also a teacher and musician with Bobby & The Isotopes and Tritium Well.
He is a member of the Democratic Party and ran for election to the Vermont House of Representatives to represent the Caledonia-1 District. He won the general election on November 8, 2022. He assumed office on January 4, 2023. His current term ends on January 8, 2025.
For 18 years, Bobby was a science educator at the Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. There he gave planetarium presentations, led outdoor explorations, and taught countless lessons on nature, science, and history to people of all ages. He was the teacher of what is still the Guinness World Record for “Largest Astronomy Lesson” in 2018.
Until recently, Bobby was tutoring several students remotely, and giving science and cultural history lectures at various locations throughout Vermont with the University of Vermont’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
In addition to being a communicator of science, he has two decades of experience in video and audio production. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Bobby created a six-part series of videos with over two hours of content, that served as a virtual field guide for many of Vermont’s emerging springtime lifeforms. This “Outdoors” series became some of the most-watched content on the Fairbanks Museum’s Youtube channel.
Bobby has been a monthly contributor to WCAX Channel 3’s Star Struck unique news segments since 2014, where he explains the latest triumphs in Astronomy and Aeronautics, including tips for backyard observation.

As a musician, Bobby is a member of the band Tritium Well, known locally for its diverse dance music, and with the band Bobby & The Isotopes.
From 2014 until its dissolution in 2018, Bobby served on the Barnet School Board of Directors.
He was featured in the Create Your Kingdom video series by Northern Forest Center, to show what it’s like to be a part of the thriving, vibrant New England community in an effort to help to relocate to the Kingdom.
Bobby was born in the Mission District of San Francisco, California. He spent most of his childhood in the working-class Cuban-American community of Hialeah, Florida. While a student at Amherst College in Massachusetts, Bobby met his partner Dylan Ford. She is a native of Ryegate, Vermont. Together, Bobby and Dylan built a timber-frame straw-bale house in Barnet where they continue to raise their children.
Bobby made a documentary about his mother’s hometown that included candid interviews with brave Cubans who risked themselves by placing their trust in him. Watch No es Fácil — Cuban Life on either side of the Florida Straits (2002).
