Johannes Tammekänd

Johannes Tammekänd is the CEO and Cofounder of Sidekik, which creates an AI version of yourself that gives your personal data a voice and outsources your daily decision making. He cofounded the company in January 2018.

After working in NATO and having the NSA as a client, Johannes saw what can be achieved with data. He realized how much the big technology companies profit from it, but not individuals themselves. All of this has led to massive inequality between individuals and the big technology companies.

At the end of 2017, the company Johannes worked with got acquired by CrowdStrike, a Silicon Valley unicorn backed by Google. He was offered to take the lead as a software architect with a lucrative payday. He turned down an offer that few would. He believes individuals should benefit from their data like technology companies do. Sidekik was started so the future can belong to everyone.

Created with the same technology, you can already talk with the President of the United States at twitter.com/trumpsidekik.

Making decisions is hard — every day we have to make up to a whopping 35,000 decisions from as little of what to eat to as who to date. Your Sidekik can help you make those decisions based on your personality, strengths, and who you are — thus helping you make better choices and saving you time.

Every hero needs a Sidekik to be at his best.

The company Johannes worked at previously was called Payload Security. He began there as Deployment Architect in October 2015. This was a cybersecurity company that developed automated malware analysis systems.

In February 2017, he was promoted to Software Architect, where he architected from the grass root level the world’s first consumer-grade Linux Malware Sandbox. Payload Security was acquired by CrowdStrike, a Silicon Valley unicorn backed by Google.

Between April 2016 and January 2017, Johannes was an Instructor for the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence. This is an International Military Organization with a mission to enhance the capability, cooperation, and information sharing among NATO, its member nations, and partners in cyberdefense. He was the instructor and a co-leader for a technical course named Botnet Mitigation Course. His special focus was on dynamic malware analysis.

For more than a year, he was part of DevOps for RangeForce, a company providing cloud-based cybersecurity training that emulates real-life cybersecurity attacks in a complex enterprise systems landscape. His focus was on developing cybersecurity labs on top of the RangeForce novel cybersimulation architecture.

Prior to joining Payload Security, Johannes was a freelancer working for clients around the world in various projects ranging from development to operations.

At the Estonian Information Technology College, he was a part of a team, that architectured, developed, and launched the first cybersecurity competition in Europe, that is purely defense and university students oriented. Later, while still to graduate, Johannes was hired by his university, to further development of the CyberOlympics next iteration and as the project lead for Cybernut. He and his team developed and launched the first cyberdefense competition for school children in Estonia.

Johannes did his internship at the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence researching new ways to mitigate insider threat detection, as according to the Verizon 2015 Data Breach Investigations report, insider misuse was ranked third on the list. This internship helped him with later collaborations with the NATO Cyber Defence Centre.

Johannes earned his Bachelor’s degree in System administration in 2015 from the Estonian Information Technology College. He studied Government, Security, and Conflict in the Cyber Age at the University of Oxford in 2015.

Before Johannes became a cybersecurity specialist, he had a dream of becoming a doctor and was lucky enough to work in a hospital at the age of 16 under the guidance of a doctor.

In his spare time, he is taking care and teaching social skills, aiding with school work, and offering support to fatherless children.
