As noted by Musk in his update, Tesla is just finalizing the construction of Giga Texas’ supercomputer cluster. He also noted that the electric vehicle maker would be attempting to get the supercomputer cluster online in the coming months. The cluster is expected to further accelerate the progress of Tesla’s FSD efforts, which is crucial for the rollout of the company’s dedicated Robotaxi, which will be unveiled on August 8, 2024.

While Musk was all work in his Giga Texas update during Independence Day, he also took some time to poke fun at Meta CEO Mark Zuckerburg, who posted a video of himself wakeboarding in a suit and sunglasses, sipping some beer, and holding up an American flag to celebrate the Fourth of July. Zuckerburg’s video went viral, with social media users noting that it made the Meta CEO very likable and cool.

Landing on the moon is difficult due to its uneven surface and the presence of #regolith, a layer of loose, fragmented material. Regolith is problematic because it can damage equipment and pose safety risks during landings. Using regolith to create bricks for building landing pads is a smart use of in situ resource utilization, reducing the need to transport materials from Earth. Astroport Space Technologies in San Antonio, Texas, is developing technology to manufacture these regolith bricks, aiming to create safe, durable landing sites on the moon.

The next update to Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) could arrive this weekend, as the long-awaited v12.4.2 is scheduled to enter an internal testing phase tomorrow.

Tesla first released version 12 of FSD in March, and it was a significant release because it was the first version that relied on end-to-end neural nets, instead of over 300,000 lines of hand-written code. With the switch, CEO Elon Musk said that each revision should result in significant improvements, saying that v12.4 should see a 5 to 10 times improvement in miles per intervention.

However, v12.4 was only released to a limited number of testers earlier this month, more than four weeks after Musk initially said it would be available, and it received a luke-warm response, with a number of bugs and erratic driving behaviours reported. As a result, it has yet to go to a wide release.

Neurotech startup Paradromics is set to commence human trials of its brain implant in 2025, intensifying the competition in the emerging brain-computer interface (BCI) market.

This move positions Paradromics against Elon Musk’s Neuralink, which has been at the forefront of public attention in this domain.

Paradromics’ CEO and founder, Matt Angle, in an interview with CNBC Tech, expressed his enthusiasm about the potential of brain-computer interfaces.
