Revolutionary improvements to automation and production may one day create machines able to produce almost anything, quickly and cheaply, and far faster and more varied than modern 3D Printers. Such devices are sometimes known as Santa Claus Machines, Cornucopia Devices, or Clanking Del-Replicators, and today we will examine how likely such technology is, how far off in the future they might be, and what impact they would have on society.

GPT-4 is Almost Here, And it Looks Better than Anything Else
In May 2020, AI research laboratory OpenAI unveiled the largest neural network ever created—GPT-3—in a paper titled, ‘Language Models are Few Shot Learners’. The researchers released a beta API for users to toy with the system, giving birth to the new hype of generative AI.
People were generating eccentric results. The new language model could transform the description of a web page into the corresponding code. It emulates the human narrative, by either writing customised poetry or turning into a philosopher—predicting the true meaning of life. There’s nothing that the model can’t do. But there’s also a lot it can’t undo.
As GPT-3 isn’t that big of a deal for some, the name remains a bit ambiguous. The model could be a fraction of the futuristic bigger models that are yet to come.

It’s Official: Scientists Confirm a New Expanded Scale of Measurement
Say hello to ronnagrams and quettameters: International scientists gathered in France voted on Friday for new metric prefixes to express the world’s largest and smallest measurements, prompted by an ever-growing amount of data.
It marks the first time in more than three decades that new prefixes have been added to the International System of Units (SI), the agreed global standard for the metric system.
Joining the ranks of well-known prefixes like kilo and milli are ronna and quetta for the largest numbers – and ronto and quecto for the smallest.

Israel successfully tests its Iron Dome air defense system for naval applications
It is meant to protect Israel’s natural gas platforms and shipping lanes.
Following a recent test, Israel’s Defense Ministry and Navy announced last week that the C-Dome, the naval version of its much-touted Iron Dome air defense system, is operational, The Times of Israel.
The Iron Dome system made it to the news during the conflict in the Gaza Strip last year, when it swung into action and blocked more than 90 percent of rockets fired at Israel. Following the successful deployment of the air defense system, the U.S. decided to procure the system from Israel. At the same time, it also inspired South Korea to build something of its own to thwart attacks from its northern neighbor.
A prediction model claims Brazil will be the champion of World Cup 2022
We will see on December 18 whether the prediction program is working or not.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup, also known as Qatar 2022, started yesterday, and its excitement has echoed worldwide. It is a matter of curiosity which nation will be the champion in this big event.
Well, good news for both science and soccer lovers because Brazil has a 25 percent probability of winning the men’s football World Cup, according to Alan Turning Institute’s prediction model that anybody can use, but the results are bleak for many other countries.
