Wi-Fi Can Decode Hidden Words Concealed Behind Walls

Wi-Fi signals can do much more than deliver streaming movies and music around the home, it turns out: they can also be used to identify shapes through solid walls, as demonstrated in recent experiments.

The ability for Wi-Fi to spot movement through walls has been shown off before, but the technology struggles with seeing anything that isn’t in motion.

To overcome that limitation, researchers from the University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) designed a Wi-Fi setup to concentrate specifically on the edges of objects, much like a person might do an outline drawing.

“Sampling led to hip-hop… AI music has the potential to do something similar”, says Holly Herndon

I have said it time and time again. Ironically I have been an electronic music producer for decades.

Electronic producer, singer and AI advocate Holly Herndon has drawn a comparison between AI music and sampling, saying that AI music could impact music in the same way sampling did hip-hop.

Herndon made the statement during a recent interview with Mixmag, as part of a feature entitled The rise of AI music: a force for good or a new low for artistic creativity? The feature explores the advantages and disadvantages of using AI technology to create music.

“Sampling old records to create something new led to the formation of genres like hip hop and innovative new forms of artistic expression.” She says. “AI music has the potential to do something very similar.”

Holly Herndon recently said that AI music is “our new reality”, adding that AI music could have the same impact that sampling had on hip-hop.

AI now generates music with CD-quality audio from text, and it’s only getting better

Imagine typing “dramatic intro music” and hearing a soaring symphony or writing “creepy footsteps” and getting high-quality sound effects. That’s the promise of Stable Audio, a text-to-audio AI model announced Wednesday by Stability AI that can synthesize stereo 44.1 kHz music or sounds from written descriptions. Before long, similar technology may challenge musicians for their jobs.

Now Stability and Harmonai want to break into commercial AI audio production with Stable Audio. Judging by production samples, it seems like a significant audio quality upgrade from previous AI audio generators we’ve seen.

YouTube is going all in on AI

The company announced a slew of AI-powered tools including backgrounds and video topic suggestions at its creator event.

More content on YouTube is going to be created at least in part using generative AI. The video platform announced several new AI-powered tools for creators at its annual Made on YouTube event on Thursday. Among the features coming later this year or next are AI-generated photo and video backgrounds, AI video topic suggestions, and music search.

A new feature called Dream Screen will create AI-generated videos and photos that creators can place in the background of their YouTube Shorts. Initially, creators will be able to type in prompts to generate backgrounds; eventually,… More.

A slew of new AI-powered tools is coming to creators.

What Is Generative AI: A Super-Simple Explanation Anyone Can Understand

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly a part of the world around us, and it’s rapidly changing our lives. It offers a hugely exciting opportunity, and sometimes, it can be more than a little scary. And without a doubt, the big development in AI making waves right now is generative AI.

Just like it sounds, it’s AI that can create, from words and images to videos, music, computer applications, and even entire virtual worlds.

What makes generative AI different and special is that it puts the power of machine intelligence in the hands of just about anyone.

Unlock the potential of generative AI and explore how this revolutionary technology is democratizing creativity and redefining the concept of originality.

Announcing Stable Audio, a product for music & sound generation

Stable Audio is a first-of-its-kind product that uses the latest generative AI techniques to deliver faster, higher-quality music and sound effects via an easy-to-use web interface. Stability AI offers a basic free version of Stable Audio, which can be used to generate and download tracks of up to 45 seconds, and a ‘Pro’ subscription, which delivers 90-second tracks that are downloadable for commercial projects.

“As the only independent, open and multimodal generative AI company, we are thrilled to use our expertise to develop a product in support of music creators,” said Emad Mostaque, CEO of Stability AI. “Our hope is that Stable Audio will empower music enthusiasts and creative professionals to generate new content with the help of AI, and we look forward to the endless innovations it will inspire.”

Stable Audio is ideal for musicians seeking to create samples to use in their music, but the opportunities for creators are limitless. Audio tracks are generated in response to descriptive text prompts supplied by the user, along with a desired length of audio. For instance, “Post-Rock, Guitars, Drum Kit, Bass, Strings, Euphoric, Up-Lifting, Moody, Flowing, Raw, Epic, Sentimental, 125 BPM” can be entered with a request for a 95-second track, and it would deliver this track.
