A Space Balloon Company Might Take You in Space Before Bezos and Branson

Posted by in category: space travel

Space travel is no longer a dream, because, now, for $125,000, anyone can book a ticket to space. This eye-catching deal is being offered by Space Perspective, a space tourism company that has created a balloon-driven space capsule called Neptune One, for conducting commercial space flights. Neptune conducted its first test flight in June 2,021 and from the same month, Space Perspective has also started accepting seat bookings for spaceflights in the years 2,024 2025, and beyond.

During its proposed space flights, Neptune plans to carry passengers 100,000 feet (about 30 km or 18.64 miles) up in the sky. However, according to the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), outer space actually starts at a height of 330,000 feet (100 km or 62 miles) from the Earth. So technically, the passengers aboard Neptune One would only be referred to as space tourists (just like Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos), and not as astronauts.

Who Wants To Be An Astronaut

Posted by in categories: climatology, space travel

Axiom Space, a venture-backed unicorn building the next generation International Space Station, is teaming up with Discovery Channel to give away a trip to the space station onboard SpaceX to the winner of a series of rigorous challenges meant to simulate astronaut training. The series is expected to air in 2022 and for those wanting to go up, casting is underway at discovery.com/astronaut. What this means is that the commercialization of space is happening in a very real way. No longer the realm of science fiction, private startups are joining forces with Fortune 500 companies to build industrial complexes in low Earth orbit for a multitude of commercial purposes including research, development, manufacturing, climate sensing, and even hospitality, with space hotels being planned to serve as WeWorks for those seeking off-planet retreats and remote work offices. you ever gazed up at the stars and wondered what it would feel like to be looking back down at Earth? Are you a space enthusiast who would give anything to travel to space, but never thought you’d have an opportunity? Welcome to WHO WANTS TO BE AN ASTRONAUT — the ultimate chance of a lifetime. Compete for a seat on a flight to the International Space Station where the winner will be able to do something only a handful of humans have ever done…travel into space.

We’re not looking for rocket scientists — this is an opportunity for regular people to have the chance to travel to space and share that journey with the world. (Ok, ok, if you’re a rocket scientist you’re welcome to apply too!)

If this sounds like a mission you want to be part of, now is your chance. Fill out the application below and submit a short video (30−60 seconds) telling us about yourself, why you deserve a chance to travel to space, what it would mean to you, and why you want to participate. We can’t wait to hear from you.

How to Make a Jupiter Brain — A Computer the Size of a Planet

Posted by in categories: computing, finance, health, military, space travel

How feasible is it to build a Jupiter brain, a computer the size of a planet? Just in the past few decades, the amount of computational power that’s available to humanity has increased dramatically. Your smartphone is millions of times more powerful than the NASA computers used to send astronauts to the moon on the Apollo 11 mission in 1969. Computers have become integral to our lives, becoming the backbone of our communications, finances, education, art, health care, military, and entertainment. In fact, it would be hard to find an area of our lives that computers didn’t affect.

Now imagine that one day we make a computer that’s the size of an entire planet. And we’re not talking Earth, but larger, a megastructure the size of a gas giant like Jupiter. What would be the implications for humans to operate a computer that size, with an absolutely enormous, virtually limitless, amount of computing power? How would our lives change? One certainly begins to conjure up the transformational effects of having so much oomph, from energy generation to space travel and colonization to a fundamental change in the lifespan and abilities of future humans.

Starship Orbital Launch Tower Moves Its Quick Disconnect Arm, Time-Lapse Video Is Amazing

Posted by in category: space travel

There is no other space project currently in the works that gets more attention than the Starship. The next generation of spacecraft coming from SpaceX, the one that is meant to take us to the Moon and even to Mars, has eclipsed pretty much everything else, from the ill-fated Boeing Starliner to the upcoming Artemis I launch.

NASA Plan To Put A Telescope On The Dark Side Of The Moon

Whether these different organisations want to land astronauts, install a human outpost or mine minerals and make rocket fuel on the moon, it still lacks an exceptional and important asset– A lunar radio Telescope. Why? Because this development will be uniquely poised to answer one of humanity’s greatest questions: What is our cosmic origin?

All the lunar missions that are being planned along with all other missions that different organizations want to accomplish, will be of no use if we don’t seek answers to fundamental questions like “what is the universe made up of? What are we made up of?” And a telescope on the far side of the moon will help us answer these important questions!! So let’s take a look at why this is important and what NASA is planning to do about it.
As mentioned earlier the universe constantly beams its history to us. For instance, the information of what happened long ago in the universe is contained in the long length radio waves that are present everywhere throughout the universe and most likely hold the details about how the first black holes and stars were formed. But there’s a problem. Our noisy radio signals and our atmosphere block these signals from coming to the earth and we can’t read them. The far side of the moon is the best place in the inner solar system to monitor these low-frequency radio waves and help us in detecting certain faint ‘fingerprints’ that the big bang left on the cosmos. The problem with our earth bound telescopes is that they encounter too much interference for electromagnetic pollution caused by human activity, whether it is short-wave broadcasting or maritime communication. On the top of that our ionosphere blocks the longest wavelengths from reaching our earth-based telescopes in the first place. We need these signals to understand and learn whether our universe inflated rapidly in the first trillionth of a trillionth of second after the big bang.

This is the reason why NASA is in the early stages of planning what it would take to build an automated research telescope on the dark side of the moon. One of the most ambitious proposals is to build the Lunar Crater radio telescope or the LCRT
