What Would Happen If Humanity Became a Type V Civilization?

Posted by in categories: cosmology, time travel

Spoiler: We are still a ‘Type Zero’ civilization.

The Kardashev scale was extended to accommodate type IV and V civilization. Energy output in type V civilization would be tremendous. Possible wormholes, time travel, and teleportation. Breaking the second law of thermodynamics would be the easiest way to progress. Maxwell’s demon thought experiment presents this hypothesis.

AMD files teleportation patent to supercharge quantum computing

Posted by in categories: computing, quantum physics, time travel

That’s teleportation for Qubits, not for humans, sadly.

AMD has proposed a patent for ‘teleportation,’ meaning things could be about to get much more efficient around here. With the incredible technological feats humanity achieves on a daily basis, and Nvidia’s Jensen going off on one last year about GeForce holodecks and time machines, it’s easy for us to slip into a headspace that lets us believe genuine human teleportation is just around the corner.

“Finally,” you sigh, mouthing the headline to yourself. “Goodbye work commute, hello popping to Japan for an authentic Ramen on my lunch break.”

On Quantum Collapse as a Basis for the Second Law of Thermodynamics

Posted by in categories: law, quantum physics, time travel

Basically means that time travel would be tricky as the reality bubble could collapse. One would need to strengthen the reality so that the past would still be the past and future the future.

It was first suggested by David Z. Albert that the existence of a real, physical non-unitary process (i.e., “collapse”) at the quantum level would yield a complete explanation for the Second Law of Thermodynamics (i.e., the increase in entropy over time). The contribution of such a process would be to provide a physical basis for the ontological indeterminacy needed to derive the irreversible Second Law against a backdrop of otherwise reversible, deterministic physical laws. An alternative understanding of the source of this possible quantum “collapse” or non-unitarity is presented herein, in terms of the Transactional Interpretation (TI).

You Can Gas Up Your Car With Garbage, If Its The 2015 Chevrolet Impala Bi-Fuel

Posted by in categories: nuclear energy, time travel, transportation

Circa 2015

With the 2015 Chevrolet Impala Bi-Fuel, drivers can top off their tank with waste byproducts, almost like Dr. Emmett Brown — aka “Doc” — did with his time-traveling DeLorean in the movie “Back to the Future.”

But instead of dumping banana peels and backwash from a beer can directly into the DeLorean’s “Mr. Fusion” reactor (see the video clip below), Impala Bi-Fuel owners simply fill up on natural gas, some of which comes from biogas, Chevy points out in its announcement about the new full-size sedan arriving in dealerships soon.

China Swears It Isn’t Building a Time Machine

Posted by in categories: government, time travel

😮

From the annals of “nothing to see here,” China’s largest state physics lab is insisting it’s not helping a private company build a time machine. The strange happenings are straight out of the scientist version of TMZ, with a leaked PowerPoint presentation and gossip swirling.

So: Is the Chinese government collaborating with a startup in order to travel through time?

A Physicist Has Worked Out The Math That Makes ‘Paradox-Free’ Time Travel Plausible

Posted by in categories: mathematics, physics, space, time travel

No one has yet managed to travel through time – at least to our knowledge – but the question of whether or not such a feat would be theoretically possible continues to fascinate scientists.

As movies such as The Terminator, Donnie Darko, Back to the Future and many others show, moving around in time creates a lot of problems for the fundamental rules of the Universe: if you go back in time and stop your parents from meeting, for instance, how can you possibly exist in order to go back in time in the first place?

It’s a monumental head-scratcher known as the ‘grandfather paradox’, but in September last year a physics student Germain Tobar, from the University of Queensland in Australia, said he has worked out how to “square the numbers” to make time travel viable without the paradoxes.
